Diamox Pill

diamox pills are primarily prescribed for glaucoma and epilepsy, however diamox can also be used to treat acute mountain sickness (which is why i had it). when using diamox for AMS you are recommended to trial it well in advance of your climb. four hours after taking my first diamox pill i woke up feeling feverish and confused. i didn't have a headache but i felt dizzy and drowsy. the next morning, after sleeping quite badly, i felt no better. the diamox had given me particularly bad congestion - feeling like a bad hangover crossed with a bad cold or flu. apparently diamox actually gives you the symptoms of altitude sickness, but this was much worse than what i experienced up kilimanjaro. not everyone will have this reaction to diamox but i would definately not recommed taking it. the other reason for not taking diamox is that if you still suffer from AMS then the doctors can't use diamox to treat you.
